Bookselling This Week Goes on Holiday

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Due to the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays, this is the final issue of Bookselling This Week for 2019. BTW will return to its regular Wednesday schedule on January 8, 2020.

During the busy holiday season, booksellers are strongly encouraged to continue reporting to the Indie Bestseller Lists.

For the week including Christmas Day:

  • The reporting site on BookWeb will be open for stores reporting by file upload or manual entry from 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 21, until 3:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, December 24.
  • BookScan reporters: Please transmit reports to BookScan from your POS before 1:00 p.m. ET on Monday, December 23.
  • The Indie Bestseller List will be produced and e-mailed to stores on Tuesday, December 24.

For New Year’s week:

  • The reporting site on BookWeb will be open for stores reporting by file upload or manual entry from 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 28, until 3:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, December 31.
  • BookScan reporters: Please transmit reports to BookScan from your POS before 1:00 p.m. ET on Monday, December 30.
  • The Indie Bestseller List will be produced and e-mailed to stores on Tuesday, December 31.

The American Booksellers Association urges all stores to continue to report to the Indie Bestseller Lists over the holidays to demonstrate the power of independents. The aggregated Bestseller reports provide hard data that reinforces to publishers and other industry stakeholders the key role of independent bookstores to a healthy book industry.

The 2019 Indie Bestseller Lists, featuring the year’s top-selling titles at hundreds of independent bookstores nationwide, are now available in PDF, Doc, and HTML formats. Each list is a great resource for shoppers looking for post-holiday reads.

When Bookselling This Week returns in January, we will feature a post-holiday roundup of sales, celebrations, and activities at bookstores around the country. If you would like your store to be highlighted, send a quick e-mail with contact information to editorial@bookweb.org.

From all of us at ABA and BTW, best wishes for a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2020!
