Susan Weis, owner of breathe books in Baltimore, Maryland, will lead "Sunrise With Susan," a gentle yoga, breathing, and meditation class at ABA's Fourth Annual Winter Institute. Early risers are invited to participate in the class beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, January 30 and 31, at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown.

"The classes are designed to awaken and enliven the chakras to create focus and awareness for the busy days ahead," said Weis, a practitioner of yoga and meditation for almost 20 years, who recently became a Chopra Center certified instructor of Ayurveda. "It's a great way to move your body and breath before sitting all day in classes. No experience necessary!"

Booksellers who participated in the class led by Weis at this past fall's New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association trade show gave it rave reviews. Jessica Stockton Bagnulo of McNally Jackson Booksellers in New York City said the class more than made up for the loss of a little sleep. "Even after a late night of talking (okay, and drinking) with my fellow booksellers and publishers, I managed to drag myself to Sunrise Yoga with Susan at 7:00 a.m." said Stockton Bagnulo. "Her guided practice was gentle but invigorating.... I actually felt more rested afterward, and more open to the encounters and information I was about to face. It was just what I needed to start the day."

"Sunrise With Susan" at the Winter Institute will be held in the Alta Room on the second floor of the Marriott. All are welcome, and there's no need to register in advance. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and to bring a yoga mat if they have one; for those without mats, the hotel will supply towels. --Karen Schechner
