In mid-January, President Obama nominated Maria Contreras-Sweet to head the Small Business Administration. Now, the Small Business Majority is asking business owners to sign a letter urging lawmakers to confirm her nomination as soon as possible “so she can begin her work supporting small businesses and promoting a strong economy.”

In an e-mail to small business owners, SBM noted, “Contreras-Sweet’s diverse background includes working to expand access to capital and promoting small business job creation.” Her career includes founding ProAmérica Bank, a commercial bank focusing on small to mid-sized businesses with a specialty in the Latino community; being a founding director of The California Endowment; and working as cabinet secretary of the California Business, Transportation, and Housing Agency.

The letter in support of Contreras-Sweet’s confirmation states that her credentials “will be an asset in her new role as SBA administrator.” Access and sign the letter to lawmakers here.

SBM is also urging business owners to share the letter with their colleagues, as well as via social media.
