Catch The Bookshop Band at Winter Institute

Next month, The Bookshop Band will be playing at bookstores throughout the United States and making a special stop at Winter Institute 14 in Albuquerque.

The Bookshop Band, a U.K. group featuring musicians Beth Porter and Ben Please, is the acclaimed in-house band for Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights, a multi-award winning independent bookshop in the U.K.

Since its founding in 2010, the band has collaborated with hundreds of authors to write, record, and perform a prolific array of songs inspired by books. Now, The Bookshop Band will be visiting bookstores in the U.S. starting in mid-January as part of a tour sponsored by Gardners, the U.K.’s leading book wholesaler.

The band will also appear at Winter Institute as follows:

• Tuesday, January 22, 9:30 p.m. in the Hotel Andaluz lobby
• Wednesday, January 23, 2:00 p.m. in the Albuquerque Convention Center’s La Sala
• Thursday, January 24, at the 7:45 a.m. breakfast keynote in the Convention Center Ballroom
• Friday, January 25, 2:45 p.m. in the Albuquerque Convention Center’s La Sala

“For years people have been coming up to us after concerts saying that we’d go down really well in the U.S., and so it’s always been a pipe dream of ours to organize a tour there,” said Please. “The final piece of the puzzle fell into place when Gardners/AMS came forward to sponsor the tour... We can’t believe it is actually happening!”
