Children’s Institute Hotel Sold Out; Overflow Hotel Block Now Open

Children's Institute logoRegistration is underway for the American Booksellers Association’s fifth ABC Children’s Institute (Ci5), to be held April 5–7 in Portland, Oregon.

The ABA room block at the host hotel, the Red Lion Hotel on the River – Jantzen Beach, is now sold out. Booksellers planning to attend should make reservations with the Oxford Suites Portland – Jantzen Beach. Reservations can be made by calling (800) 548-7848 and requesting the ABA rate of $129 per night, plus tax.

When booking hotel and travel accommodations, booksellers should keep in mind that the Children’s Institute opening reception at Powell’s City of Books will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, and at 5:00 p.m. for Children’s Institute scholarship winners. In addition, bookstore tours will be offered on April 5; registration for the bookstore tours will open later this month.

Booksellers at all ABA member stores are welcome to register for Children’s Institute. The Ci5 conference fee is $99 per bookseller, but space is limited and there is a maximum of five registrants per ABA member business. Booksellers are also encouraged to review the current Children’s Institute program and contact ABC Group Manager Gen de Botton if they have expertise to share on any of the planned session topics.

Registered booksellers may cancel their Children’s Institute registration at any time by e-mailing [email protected]. Cancellations received prior to March 1 are eligible for a full refund of registration fees; cancellations received on or after March 1 are not eligible for refund.
