The American Booksellers Association recently added information about Community Banking under the Banking and Merchant Services segment on the Business Services page of BookWeb.org to reflect how working with community banks is often the preferred way to go for indie stores seeking loans or merchant services.

Information provided on the page includes links to a Community Bank Locator and to the trade group representing community banks, the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA).

Booksellers will recognize many of their own voices as they explore the ICBA website: “Community banks are the safest, soundest, and most secure financial institutions in our nation. Community banks are common sense lenders that follow responsible business practices; are risk averse; and work every day to support their customers, communities and local markets.”

ABA will be expanding its information on community banking in the new year.

ABA members with questions and feedback about the information currently available should send an e-mail to [email protected], or contact their ABA Member Relationship Manager directly: Nathan Halter (800-637-0037, ext. 7514; [email protected]) for stores in the MPIBA, NCIBA, PNBA, SCIBA, SIBA regions; Catherine Cusick (800-637-0037, ext. 7566; [email protected]) for stores in the GLIBA, MIBA, NAIBA, NEIBA regions.
