Stores participating in the Book Sense Gift Card Program can request two new card designs sponsored by Random House Children's Books and Listening Library. The free, limited edition gift cards, which are ready to ship to eligible booksellers, feature artwork from the Dr. Seuss classics Horton Hears a Who! and Oh, the Places You'll Go!

Random House Children's Books and Listening Library are covering the cost of the cards (22 cents), the transaction fees (50 cents) and the presenters (8 cents).

Both designs will hold wide appeal for children and adults. Perfect for birthdays is the card bearing Horton of Horton Hears a Who! proclaiming "Happy Birthday" wishes. And Dr. Seuss' familiar pajama-clad hero and inspiring words -- "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" -- make the other a great gift for graduation and other special events.

All other Book Sense gift card program fees apply to both cards, and booksellers must pay for shipping and handling and to add an imprint. Imprints can only be added to card orders of 250 per design.

All orders are subject to approval by Random House and will be placed by ABA on behalf of booksellers. Booksellers may request both cards; however, standard orders are 100 generic or 250 imprinted cards of a single design. Orders for 50 generic cards or more than 250 imprinted cards of a single design will be considered. Cards and matching presenters will ship before May 1.

Requests indicating designs and quantities must be received by ABA's Jill Perlstein ([email protected] or 800-637-0037, ext. 6642) no later than Friday, April 4.

A great tie-in to the gift cards is Listening Library's special CD package of Oh, the Places You'll Go read by John Lithgow and The Lorax read by Ted Danson. A sturdy double-sided package features a full-sized flap that serves as both a bookplate and a gift card holder. And The Lorax's focus on environmental concerns extends merchandising opportunities from Earth Day through the graduation season.
