Shop Small logoIndependent booksellers looking to promote Small Business Saturday can visit American Express’ Shop Small Studio to access a variety of marketing materials to help business owners attract and engage with their customers.

On November 30, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, small retailers across the country will celebrate Small Business Saturday, founded in 2010 by American Express as a day dedicated to supporting small businesses.

That Saturday, booksellers will simultaneously participate in the seventh annual Indies First, a collaborative event among authors, publishers, retailers, and readers to celebrate independent bookstores and local communities.

Booksellers can access the Shop Small Studio now to begin creating customized materials. Stores are also invited to sign up to be a Neighborhood Champion to raise awareness for the day, encouraging local businesses to participate and customers to get out and shop local. To help stores with planning Small Business Saturday events, AmEx also offers a downloadable Shop Small passport, an event planning checklist, and an action plan checklist.
