Hachette Book Group is hosting its second annual Reading Group Day on September 7, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Lighthouse International, located at 111 East 59th St. in New York City.

Partnering with ReadingGroupGuides.com and independent bookstore McNally Jackson Books, Hachette will bring authors and reading enthusiasts together for a full day of book group-themed events.

“This year, we have once again lined up an extraordinary group of authors and are happy to give the reading community an opportunity to meet and hear their voices,” said Karen Torres, vice president of account marketing and retail operations for Hachette Book Group.

Readers from the tri-state area will attend author panels and speeches, meet with other reading group participants, enjoy a full lunch, and depart with a goodie bag filled with books and galleys.

Reading Group Day will kick off with a keynote speech by authors Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child (Two Graves) and will conclude with a closing keynote by Elin Hilderbrand (Beautiful Day). The day’s author panels will focus on a range of topics, including mystery, narrative nonfiction, literary fiction, new adult, and young adult.

Among the participating authors are Kathleen Kent (The Outcasts), A.S. King (Ask the Passengers), Lily Koppel (The Astronauts Wives Club), George Pelecanos (The Double), Benjamin Percy (Red Moon), and Daniel Woodrell (The Maid’s Version).

“Last year’s event was so wonderful, truly a rewarding celebration of authors and readers. I’m delighted about this year’s outstanding author line-up,” said Melissa Nicholas, associate director of account marketing and retail operations at Hachette. “I really have goose bumps about these panels. Spectacular literary moments are in store.”

Tickets for Reading Group Day are available online through McNally Jackson Books. The cost is $50 and includes lunch and a gift bag. McNally Jackson will also provide books for purchase at the event.
