#HarperCollinsLovesIndies Initiative Lets Booksellers Give Virtual Store Tours on Facebook Live

There is still one taping date available — Saturday, December 29 — for the #HarperCollinsLovesIndies initiative, the 2018 Facebook Live video program from HarperCollins that allows participating booksellers to give viewers and potential customers a virtual tour of their bookstores on selected Saturdays throughout the year.

FB Live logoAs part of the initiative first introduced in 2017, the publisher invites a new bookseller to share a video on Facebook Live every Saturday; in about 20 minutes of screen time, the featured bookseller introduces themselves and store staff, gives a behind-the-scenes view of store operations, discusses upcoming events, shares staff picks, and answers questions posted by commenters.

This year, to help publicize booksellers’ videos, the American Booksellers Association has been sharing them with its 44,000 followers on its Facebook page and IndieBound Facebook page. HarperCollins has also been helping bookstores plan their Facebook Live events this year by sending a “best practices” guide in advance of taping.

Booksellers looking to sign up for the remaining taping date on December 29 should e-mail [email protected]. Only a smartphone with an Internet connection and the Facebook app are needed to participate.
