Important Independent Bookstore Day Dates and Deadlines

Independent Bookstore Day, the national celebration of independent bookstores, will take place on April 25, 2020, and several important dates are approaching. In 2019 more than 575 stores participated, and the American Booksellers Association is taking over management of the event for 2020.

Booksellers should mark their calendars for the following:

• January 15: Independent Bookstore Day online catalog goes live
• February 3: Order deadline
• March: Bookstore Day tote bags and bookmarks arrive

For 2020, special merchandise will include items from Amor Towles, Ottessa Moshfegh, Jon Klassen, Dav Pilkey, Shea Serrano, and more.
