Booksellers will celebrate Independent Bookstore Day (IBD) on April 30, and to help booksellers plan displays, special events, and publicity leading up to the event, Independent Bookstore Day organizers have made available:

Independent Bookstore Day tote bags and T-shirts are still available to booksellers looking to promote the event. Bags wholesale for $7 each and must be ordered in increments of 10. T-shirts are $10 and can be ordered individually for staff or in bulk for resale. All IBD merchandise is nonreturnable; orders can be placed by contacting Ann Seaton.

Booksellers looking to host story time activities and giveaways for kids can request a Duck & Goose party pack with materials based on author and illustrator Tad Hills’ picture book series. The kit is free to Independent Bookstore Day participants; booksellers can contact their Random House Children’s sales rep or e-mail [email protected] to learn more.

Several publishers are offering specials on backlist and companion titles by Independent Bookstore Day authors. Booksellers can review the IBD catalog for suggestions and sign up for the Independent Bookstore Day newsletter to learn more about publisher promotions.

As events come together, booksellers are asked to share their party plans with Independent Bookstore Day. Questions can be directed to IBD Program Director Samantha Schoech or NCIBA Executive Director Calvin Crosby.
