Here's a full preview of the Indie Next Spring/Summer '09 Reading Group List, which ABA member stores in the IndieBound movement will be receiving in the May Red Box.
"The first order of business is to thank the many booksellers who sent in enthusiastic nominations for the titles that they are recommending to their stores' reading groups. Without their participation, we never could have produced such a diverse and exciting list," said Dan Cullen, ABA's senior director for editorial content. "The reading group list has established itself as one of the most popular lists with consumers and passionate readers, and we hope that the Spring/Summer '09 list continues the tradition."
Each year, IndieBound receives the most requests for additional copies of the Reading Group list from booksellers, who use the list in a number of ways -- from handouts at author events and special reading group nights to making it a part of in-store displays. The list showcases strong paperback titles and extends the Indie Next List reach into a store's backlist.
Cullen also reminded booksellers that Friday, May 1, is the deadline for the July Indie Next List. Booksellers can use the online nomination form, or they can send their nominations in an e-mail to email@example.com. Here's a list of upcoming nomination deadlines.
Stores that would like to receive additional copies of the Reading Group list -- or any other Indie Next List -- should e-mail Linda Ford at firstname.lastname@example.org.
