It's Now or Never: ABACUS Deadline Next Week

Booksellers wishing to participate in this year's ABACUS survey are reminded that the deadline for submitting data is midnight on Tuesday, August 15. Every bookstore submitting data by the deadline will receive a customized report on their financial performance, as well as a $50 rebate check off their ABA membership dues. Checks will be mailed to all participating stores in September.

The extension of the ABACUS deadline to August 15 and recent appeals for more bookseller participation have brought "dozens of responses over the past week -- both from stores that have now submitted surveys, and from stores that are working on their numbers and have promised to submit their information before the deadline," said ABA Special Projects Director David Walker. "If we can get another 30 to 40 stores to participate, we will have enough data to produce a very good survey."

"If a bookseller is unable to contact me during normal business hours, I would be happy to speak to him or her during the evening or over the weekend," added Walker. --David Grogan
