July 11 Marketing Meetup to Look at “Catching the Romance Reader”
On Thursday, July 11, the American Booksellers Association will present a Marketing Meetup on “Catching the Romance Reader,” during which attendees will hear about strategies for marketing romance titles in their stores.
All bookstore members are invited to participate in these bookseller-led educational conversations, which are conducted through Zoom.us and held at 11:00 a.m. EST on two Thursdays a month. Those who would like to participate can sign up on BookWeb.org.
For booksellers who have attended meetups in the past, note that the Zoom Meeting Room for ABA’s Marketing Meetups has changed; booksellers who have attended in the past will need to re-register to attend the July 11 session. Register for the meetup here; after registering, booksellers will receive a confirmation e-mail containing information about joining the meeting. Once registered, booksellers will automatically be registered for upcoming sessions through April 2020.
During the Marketing Meetup on Thursday, July 11, at 11:00 a.m. EDT, booksellers will hear from four bookseller speakers who have all delved into the world of romance through book clubs, pop-up shops, dreaming up annual celebration days, and generally being romance-friendly. Booksellers will learn best practices for marketing to the romance reader, suggestions for planning events around romance books, where to source romance recommendations, and general advice.
Guest speakers will include Billie Bloebaum of Third Street Books in McMinnville, Oregon, and founder of Bookstore Romance Day; Tracie Fain of The Book House in Atlanta, Georgia; Clarissa Murphy of Silver Unicorn Bookstore in Acton, Massachusetts; and Angela Trigg of The Haunted Book Shop in Mobile, Alabama.
BookWeb.org features a page under the Events tab with a listing of all past and upcoming Marketing Meetups, along with Meetup recaps previously published in BTW.
