Kobo Launches Direct Device Purchasing, Super Points Loyalty Program

Coming Soon: Order Glo HD and Aura H2O Devices Directly From Kobo

Beginning October 12, 2015, ABA members will be able to order Kobo’s brand-new Glo HD and Aura H2O eReaders and accessories directly from Kobo, with margin, sales tax exemption (with re-seller license), and free shipping (Kobo will absorb shipping costs). The process will also provide serialization of the device — to affiliate with the purchasing store — prior to shipping.

Orders will be placed through a new corporate site; all stores in the eReading Program that have previously sold devices will receive an e-mail from Kobo directing them to a URL to activate a new password for the corporate site.

To assist with selling these new devices, Kobo has updated all online product pages with new and condensed messaging. These materials will be added to the Kobo section of Designs and Downloads on BookWeb.org on October 12. Booksellers can visit the device pages on Kobo.com to learn more about the Glo HD and Aura H2O; for movie lovers, check out a YouTube video starring Glo HD.

New for eBook Customers: Super Points Loyalty Program

Rakuten Kobo has introduced Kobo Super Points, a new loyalty program that allows Kobo customers to instantly earn points for every eBook and magazine purchase they make online or with Kobo’s free reading app. Points can be redeemed on a selection of titles in the catalog of more than one million titles across a variety of genres.

Customers automatically begin receiving Super Points when they sign in to their Kobo account and make a purchase. Their points balance, which is part of their personal profile, can be monitored through the new Kobo Super Points dashboard. To kick off the launch, Kobo is rewarding each of its top 25,000 readers with 2,500 Super Points, enough points to claim their first gift. Customers can access the Kobo Super Points member page at www.kobo.com/kobosuperpoints.

Re-Affiliation Update

All requested re-affiliation changes have been made for August and September. Booksellers who submitted for missing customers should advise them of the change and instruct them to test whether the re-affiliation took.
