This fall at the regional trade shows, the American Booksellers Association presented the new education session “Maximizing Pre-Order Campaigns,” which focused on how indie bookstores can take part in the growing business of pre-orders — an increasingly important way books are sold and marketed in 2018.

The PowerPoint presentation from the education session is available now on BookWeb. Booksellers will need a BookWeb login to access the document; e-mail [email protected] for login details.

In the “Maximizing Pre-Order Campaigns” session, which was delivered at all eight regional trade shows this fall, booksellers learned how to work with publishers to take full advantage of pre-order opportunities and boost sales, public relations, and market share.

Booksellers also learned about ways to successfully promote and sell pre-orders to become an integral partner to publishers and authors, including new methods developed and tested by ABA’s Pre-Orders Task Force of indie stores, such as processes and protocols for marketing, tracking, and reporting pre-orders for stores with various POS systems.
