LIBRIS, ABA's insurance subsidiary, recently sent ABA bookstore members who are not currently LIBRIS policyholders an invitation to meet with a representative during BookExpo America (May 28 - June 1 in Los Angeles). Qualifying booksellers who meet with a LIBRIS representative at BEA to discuss a no-obligation quote will receive two tickets for one of the trade show's author breakfasts.

"Over the past year, every business, regardless of revenue size, has experienced substantial increases in business liability insurance," said ABA Marketing Officer Michael Hoynes. "While LIBRIS premiums have also increased, many booksellers have found that LIBRIS rates are very competitive, and are often lower. Also, ABA members have an opportunity to earn dividends when the program earns underwriting profits."

Booksellers do not have to wait for their insurance renewal time to request a quote, which can be brought to their insurance agent for evaluation. A bookseller's local insurance agent will be compensated when LIBRIS insurance is purchased.

LIBRIS (League of Independent Book Retailer Insurance Services) offers business insurance for independent booksellers and book publishers. Among the insurance coverages LIBRIS offers to meet the needs of booksellers are full replacement cost for buildings and business personal property; business interruption/extra expense; used and rare books; computer equipment/software; business liability protection; employee benefits liability; theft; workers' compensation; and coverage for cafés and restaurants.

Quotes can be requested through the LIBRIS Web site, www.LIBRIS.org, by completing an online form or by downloading a form that can be faxed to LIBRIS at (303) 388-5585.
