Macmillan Publishers has created a policy to support new bookstores opening in the independent bookstore channel.

The policy features special discount, dating, and co-op terms on all orders of Macmillan U.S. trade publishers and its distributees’ adult, children’s, and audio physical products. The discounts offered under the policy are only available to U.S. trade accounts in the independent bookstore channel.

“Macmillan is responding to the continuing growth in the independent bookstore channel and we would like to support them any way we can,” said Don O’Connor, senior field sales and national accounts manager for Macmillan.

Independent bookstore retailers that opened a new store in 2017 prior to the implementation of Macmillan’s New Store Opening Policy are also eligible to take advantage of elements of the program.

Booksellers can find a link to the new policy in the American Booksellers Association’s Book Buyer’s Handbook (a username and password are required to access the Handbook; booksellers who need login information can e-mail [email protected]).

Accounts wishing to participate in the New Store Opening Policy should contact Matt Johnson in the Macmillan Sales Department to review qualification and implementation details. Johnson can be reached at [email protected] or (646) 307-5349.
