Macmillan Offers Fierce Reads Authorless Event Kit

Macmillan’s Fierce Reads program for teen fiction is offering an authorless events kit to ABA member stores. The kit features promotional materials for four of the Fierce Reads brand’s newest titles: Unremembered by Jessica Brody; Of Triton by Anna Banks; Monument 14: Sky on Fire by Emmy Laybourne; and Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo.

The four authors have been on tour to bookstores around the country, and the seasonal event has been in great demand, said Kathryn Little, associate director of marketing for MacKids. The Authorless Event Kit was developed to provide stores not on the current tour with the tools to create their very own Fierce Reads events.

One of the program’s biggest goals, said Little, is to have the stores get back in touch once they’ve had an opportunity to use the kit. “When doing the authorless event, if stores make enough noise, they could be considered for a future tour,” Little said, adding that booksellers can share information about their events on Macmillan seasonal author events request grids.

Little would also like to feature independent stores’ events on the Fierce Reads Facebook page, and plans to make author Twitter handles available to promote conversations among authors, bookstores, customers, and fans.

To request the Fierce Reads Spring 2013 Authorless Event Kit, booksellers should visit macteenbooks.com/fiercereads. Supplies are limited, so stores should act as soon as possible.

The kit includes:

  • Three branded tote bags
  • Poster with discussion questions
  • Signed, branded bookplates
  • Bookmarks
  • Decoration and refreshment guide
  • One gratis copy of each book to raffle off
  • Raffle tickets
  • List of digital assets, including book trailers

Macmillan is also making available discussion guides, a refreshment guide, and other downloadable assets at Macteenbooks.com.
