As Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy reaches terminal velocity, Music Box Films couldn’t ask for better timing. They’re releasing the second film in the series, The Girl Who Played With Fire, on July 9. To help booksellers capitalize on film-release buzz, Music Box Films is offering a multifaceted promotion, including free passes, a free documentary, and appropriately, free temporary tattoos.

After premiering in NYC and Chicago on Friday, July 2, the film will open in theaters across the country Friday, July 9. Actors Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist return in the sequel to the successful The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, directed by Daniel Alfredson. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest opens October 15 (All are Music Box Films releases).

Music Box Films is offering the following promotions:

Reading Group Movie Outings: Promote a group outing for customers to see the film the first weekend it plays at a local movie theater.  Music Box will help coordinate Group Sales ticket discounts and provide promotional fliers and copy for use in an e-mail blast or newsletter.

Special Documentary Screening: Show a free 50-minute documentary that explores Stieg Larsson’s life and the Millennium trilogy. Contact Music Box Films directly for a free DVD.

Free Movie Passes:  Music Box Films will provide several pairs of free movie passes for The Girl Who Played With Fire for use in contest give-aways via e-newsletter, e-mail blast, in-store, Facebook, and Twitter promotions.
