Registrants for the ABC Children’s Institute, which kicks off on Tuesday, June 21, in Orlando, Florida, can now download the new ABA Institutes app, available for iPhone, iPad, iPod, or Android devices, to enhance their Children’s Institute experience.

The free app can be downloaded directly here, or attendees can search for “ABA Institutes” in the App Store or on Google Play. The ABA logo will appear as the app icon once installed. Inside the app, the Children’s Institute logo will take users to more information about the June 21–23 event.

The ABA Institutes app is distinct from the CrowdCompass app created for Winter Institute 11 and should be downloaded separately to access the Children’s Institute event information; a new account will also need to be created and will allow the user greater access to some of the app’s features.

The “Using this App” guide provides details about how to take advantage of the app’s many features. Through the app, users can access the Children’s Institute schedule and create personal agendas; message fellow attendees and share contact info; and see the keynote and featured speakers, plus the complete list of attending authors.

This year, post-session evaluations will only be available through the app, and full session descriptions will only be listed in the app and on BookWeb. The app will also serve as the venue for attendees to learn about late-breaking news or schedule changes. ABA suggests users allow for push notifications to get real-time alerts about such changes. Changes will also be listed within the app.

Signage at Children’s Institute will provide reminders about the ABA Institutes app, as well as additional instructions for how to sign in and use the app. The minimum operating system requirement for using the app on Apple devices is iOS 8 or greater; for Android devices, 4.1 or greater. App content is also visible in a web version here.

Questions about the app can be addressed to Director of ABA Technology Greg Galloway.
