Preregistration for Find Waldo Local Extended to March 20

The deadline to preregister for the July 2017 celebration of Find Waldo Local has been extended to Monday, March 20. Preregistration for the sixth annual event, sponsored by Candlewick Press and the American Booksellers Association, is capped at 250 ABA member stores.
Find Waldo Local takes customers on scavenger hunts through small business communities across the U.S. in search of the iconic picture book character, who celebrates his 30th anniversary this year. The shop local challenge culminates at the end of the month with a final party at the host bookstore.
Valued at $325, this year’s event kit will include everything bookstores need to launch a Find Waldo Local event in their community, including 25 mini Waldo standees, 25 window clings, 125 prize buttons, eight Waldo prize books, reproducible passports, $1 coupons, party activities, posters, and bag stuffers, as well as a sample pitch letter and press release and social media assets for Facebook and Twitter.
This year, the Find Waldo Local program will feature additional promotional items to help bookstores celebrate Waldo’s 30th, including a mini-standee of Waldo’s friend Wenda. a 40-inch Waldo standee, full-color decorative bunting, a pack of 100 sticker sheets, and a special edition Waldo 30th anniversary tote bag. A new minimum order quantity of 30 books is another of this year’s perks; all orders are due by Tuesday, March 28.
