Redesigned Indie Next List Headed to Stores

When the Red Box lands in stores next week, booksellers will get their first look at the redesigned Indie Next List fliers.

Starting with the May edition, the Next List flier features 12 "Now in Paperback" titles with jacket images -- twice as many as in the previous design.

Booksellers have reported that many of their customers prefer paperback books, so the redesigned fliers offer stores an opportunity to remind those customers that past Indie Next List Great Reads have been released in their preferred format.

Industry Relations Officer Mark Nichols said the new design, which was suggested by members of ABA's Booksellers Advisory Council, "is a better use of the space in the printed flier."

As a result of the expanded Now in Paperback section, the Notables titles will no longer appear in the printed Indie Next List fliers. The Notables titles will be announced in Bookselling This Week in conjunction with the Indie Next Great Reads and Now in Paperback, and, as usual, they will be featured in a downloadable flier and shelf-talkers available on the first of each month on Bookweb.org. --Sarah Rettger
