The American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression has announced that it will be receiving an initial gift of $8,000 in special royalties from sales of My Bookstore: Writers Celebrate Their Favorite Places to Browse, Read, and Shop.  Black Dog & Leventhal, the book’s publisher, and Workman Publishing, its distributor, announced their plan to donate a portion of revenue from sales of the book to ABFFE when My Bookstore was released in November 2012.

“We are excited about the success of My Bookstore and very grateful to J.P. Leventhal and Peter Workman for allowing us to share in it,” said ABFFE President Chris Finan.

My Bookstore was edited by Ronald Rice and prepared in collaboration with booksellers around the country.  More than 80 bookstores are celebrated in the book’s collection of essays, stories, odes, and other expressions of gratitude by many of the country’s leading authors, including John Grisham, Isabel Allende, Daniel Handler, Lisa Brown, Dave Eggers, Henry Louis Gates Jr., Simon Winchester, Ian Frazier, Francine Prose, Pete Hamill, and Chuck Palahniuk.
