The American Booksellers Association’s eighth Children’s Institute (Ci8) will be held in Tucson, Arizona, from Monday, June 22, through Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Registration for the institute is scheduled to open in February.

Scholarships are open to booksellers from ABA member stores that did not have a Children’s Institute scholarship winner in 2018 or 2019. Scholarships will cover the conference fee, the cost of airfare or ground transportation up to $400, and four hotel nights plus tax.

ABA aims to make Children’s Institute as welcoming and inclusive as possible and is committed to awarding scholarships to booksellers from all backgrounds. ABA encourages booksellers who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and/or neurodivergent as well as booksellers with disabilities to apply. To assist the scholarship awarding process, booksellers are invited to share what informs their experience as a bookseller, whether in terms of race, class, gender, sexual identity, physical ability, cultural background, or in some other way, and why they feel they should be awarded a scholarship to Children’s Institute.

The deadline to apply is December 4, 2019. Apply now.
