Book Sense bookstores can help their customers win a crime spree -- well, actually, a crime-writing spree -- when they direct customers to A&E Network's Cold Case Files Sweepstakes.

A&E's Cold Case Files, a series that examines the art of forensics, has partnered with Book Sense and Penguin to create a sweepstakes designed specifically for Book Sense stores and their customers. The grand prize is a 7-Day/6-Night trip for two to the Harrogate Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate, England.

Fliers and displays, directing customers to enter the contest online, are being sent to booksellers in the August Red Box. Cold Case File airs on A&E on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 9:00 p.m./8:00 c. and on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m./7:00 c. The tie-in book, The Science of Cold Case Files, will be published by Penguin's Berkley imprint in September.

The sweepstakes runs from September 1 - October 6, 2004, and the Web site to enter the contest, www.shopeaetv.com/coldcase, will be available during that period. The grand prize includes admission to the Harrogate Festival, including three days of crime-writing forums, round-trip coach class air transportation, and meals. Three first-prize winners will each receive one Cold Case Files PC CD-ROM game. Five second-prize winners will each receive one copy of the book, The Science of Cold Case Files, which reveals the true stories behind the Cold Case Files series.
