In conjunction with Slate PR, Wordeee, a literary and entertainment hub, is launching a virtual tour with TV personality Jay Manuel for his upcoming book, The Wig, the Bitch, & the Meltdown. Wordeee is looking to partner with independent bookstores for this tour.
Wordeee CEO Marva Allen, who formerly owned Hue-Man Bookstore in New York City, told Bookselling This Week that publishing is just part of what the company does. “We aim to get words to consumers in whatever way they consume it,” she said. “So, our vision is to find ways to exploit the authors’ intellectual property across platforms, so that with multiple streams of income from their book, they can truly make a living as an artist.”
“In my tenure as a bookseller,” she said, “I had the great pleasure of nurturing many authors who needed direction and some creative ideas on how to stay in the game and get noticed. I often hear now that many of these authors have thanked me publicly for those little nuggets of hope. That’s what we want to do at Wordeee. We want to find great writers and nurture their careers.”
The Wig, the Bitch, and the Meltdown is a satirical look behind the scenes of the fictional reality model competition show Model Muse. Manuel’s tour will be held from August 3 to September 30, and Wordeee noted that he is particularly interested in working with independent bookstores.
