It’s no secret that an online presence is essential to contemporary bookselling, be it a website, a Facebook page, or an online listing. But being online is not enough, not when adults average 47 percent of their day in the digital world, according to eMarketer.

Selling online — offering customers the ease and convenience of shopping when and how they want to — makes a real and crucial difference. Year after year, the most profitable stores in the American Booksellers Association’s membership are those with robust e-commerce websites.

ABA believes this so strongly that it is offering $75 per month off IndieCommerce’s standard rate for one year to any member store that has not previously used the product.

For $100 per month for a year, new IndieCommerce stores will be able to attract new customers and provide full service to current customers; promote events, signed books, and unique products; and take advantage of national programs such as Indies First, which sends readers from across the country to their local stores and to buy online from independents.

Booksellers can learn more about IndieCommerce and the Drupal 7 platform’s easy navigation and new features on Bookweb.org or by contacting Member Technology Director Neil Strandberg via e-mail or at (800) 637-0037, ext. 7527.

This special pricing offer is for ABA members that have not previously been IndieCommerce stores that sign up between October 10, 2014, and March 31, 2015. The timing of new websites will be determined in conversation with each new store.
