Program sign-up deadline May 19

All ABA member booksellers are invited to end a full day of BookExpo America programming on Friday, May 30, at a special reception featuring 10 of the upcoming season’s best debut authors. The 2014 Summer/Fall Indies Introduce author meet-and-greet and book signing will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the ABA Indie Bookseller Lounge (Room 214 at the front of the “200” aisle on the trade show floor).

Titles featured in the Indies Introduce program have been deemed the best debuts by panels of adult and children’s booksellers. Come meet these authors whose books you will enjoy selling for many years to come:

  • Tom Bouman, Dry Bones in the Valley (W.W. Norton)
  • Malcolm Brooks, Painted Horses (Grove Press)
  • Courtney Collins, The Untold (Amy Einhorn Books/Putnam)
  • S.E. Grove, The Glass Sentence (Viking Juvenile)
  • Smith Henderson, Fourth of July Creek (Ecco)
  • Sean Michaels, Us Conductors (Tin House Books)
  • Michael Pitre, Fives and Twenty-Fives (Bloomsbury)
  • Robin Talley, Lies We Tell Ourselves (Harlequin)
  • Maria Venegas, Bulletproof Vest (Farrar, Straus and Giroux)
  • Amy Zhang, Falling Into Place (Greenwillow)

Light refreshments will be served at the reception.

Bookstores have until Monday, May 19, to sign up for the Summer/Fall Indies Introduce program. Visit the sign-up page to see the full list of titles, find bookseller reviews for each, and learn about special offers. (A BookWeb user name and password are required.) Bookstores that participated in any of the three previous Indies Introduce seasons do not need to sign up, as they have already been included in the program.

The full listing of Indies Introduce titles is also available on Edelweiss.

Stores must select eight of the 20 Indies Introduce titles to promote (children’s bookstores should select five of the 10 New Voices); however, titles do not need to be chosen in advance. A store’s selections must be featured in a dedicated Indies Introduce in-store display, standing for no less than two weeks, and must be promoted through newsletters, staff picks, store websites, and social media. Bookstores are expected to order three copies of each hardcover and children’s book, and five copies of each paperback (display allowance titles may have different order requirements). Learn more and sign up.

For stores that do not order direct from all publishers, and those that prefer to order the books in one order, Ingram has put together a special offer on Summer /Fall Indies Introduce titles. From now until October 31, stores that use the promotion code "DA" on an initial order or reorders of Indies Introduce titles will receive an additional two percent discount.
