Still Time to Don the Yellow Hat

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Booksellers who are eager to get into the swing with Curious George, whose eponymous film opens on February 10, still have an opportunity to grab a yellow hat and other special promotional materials from Book Sense. However, quantities are extremely limited.

In addition to a two-foot high yellow hat and a Curious George-wrapped disposable camera to help booksellers capture displays and special events, materials include suggestions for promoting the official movie tie-ins coming from Houghton Mifflin in January, as well as other Curious George books. According to Meg Smith, associate Book Sense marketing director, a small number of hats and event kits remain. Booksellers who haven't already received the promotional materials and would like to, or those who would like an extra hat or camera, should send an e-mail to Smith at [email protected].

For additional event ideas and materials, booksellers can go to the Complete Curious George Party Kit, available at the Teacher/Librarian Resource Center at www.curiousgeorge.com. Bookstores participating in the Curious George promotion are eligible to participate in a random drawing for prizes, courtesy of Houghton Mifflin. To enter, booksellers need only use the camera to take photos of Curious George events and return it to Book Sense. Prizes include a complete Curious George library from Houghton Mifflin, a Fossil limited-edition Curious George women's watch, and a Curious George plush toy from Russ Berrie. Entries (cameras) must be mailed by March 1, 2006. Full details are available in the event kit.
