Today Book Club Picks a 76

On Monday, March 10, NBC News' Today Show announced that the ninth selection of its monthly "Today Book Club" is Caramelo, by Sandra Cisneros (Knopf). The title was a November/December 2002 Book Sense 76 pick.

Cisneros' novel is a romantic story about a multi-generational Mexican-American family during the 1920s. In nominating the book for the 76, Elise White of Orinda Books in Orinda, California, said, "Toot horns! Blow whistles! Beat drums! This is a superb novel about the Reyes family, a family composed of vivid characters who quickly spring to life on the page and in the reader's imagination. If there is one book that you should not miss reading this year, this is it."
