The transition from Edelweiss Classic to Edelweiss+ is progressing along, with a “redirect” to Edelweiss+ that started at the beginning of March. Most users appear to have already made the switch rather seamlessly, while others chose to … un-direct, which is quite fine. (“Redirect,” meaning that we gave users the option to go back to Classic if they wished.) We are, of course, encouraging folks to obtain at least a passing familiarity with the new site as Edelweiss “Classic” really and truly is going away. As things stand, we’re looking at the beginning of July for that.

The most common question we get is, “will my orders, tags, reviews, etc. move over to the new site?” The answer to that is yes. They are there now. One of the nice things about the new site (once you get used to the idea) is that you can choose to view only very recent activity, or older activity along with the more recent stuff. So, next to, say, your Active Orders, you’ll see a calendar icon that will let you set this time frame of visible activity.

You’ll see that tool throughout the site, whether on downloaded titles, the time frame for Recently Viewed Catalogs, your Highly Anticipated titles, Tags, etc. Edelweiss+ uses the same database as Edelweiss Classic. It simply presents the information on a slightly different and more customizable platform.  Indeed, the impetus for this update is to allow the site to do the things that users have been asking for for quite some time, but that the older platform just could not accommodate. As such, you’ll see a higher level of integration with Treeline information, very fast filtering and sorting tools, and more.

That said, most of the basic functions are very similar. Indeed, there really aren’t many possible variations on the idea of adding desired quantities for a title to an order. All that stuff is quite similar, although you’ll obviously need to know where to click to do those things.

We are quite motivated to teach you where to click. In fact, besides the full suite of help documentation available here, we’ve been holding weekly webinars, dubbed Tuesdays With Treeline, for various sorts of users. From what we’ve seen, for the most part people are ready to rock once they view one of these webinars. And not to make things too convenient, but we’re recording these and posting them on the help site as well. One bookseller reported having had a pleasant evening session involving wine and ice cream, but we, as always, strive to be a descriptive rather than a prescriptive service… You can find all available webinar recordings here along with a schedule of any that are upcoming. Our weekly newsletter will also make sure you’re up to date on upcoming training opportunities, as well as new features and such.

We’ll have a session aimed at buyers at next week’s Children’s Institute and at BookExpo in June. Also, you can e-mail us for direct help at [email protected].

We’ve actually hired two new outrageously nice support folks to make sure we can help you as quickly and effectively as possible. Meet Angela Hawkins and Lochlan O’Leary:

We’ve been receiving quite a bit of great feedback, and you’ll see some changes made to the site as great suggestions are implemented.

As always, feel free to send questions to [email protected].
