The American Booksellers Association is currently accepting applications from booksellers for publisher-sponsored scholarships to the 2017 Winter Institute.
The 12th annual Winter Institute (Wi12) will be held January 27–30 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Scholarships will cover the conference fee; up to four nights plus tax at the host hotel, the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis, at the special ABA rate; and transportation costs up to $400.
As in years past, booksellers will also be able to submit a business card at the ABA booth during any of the fall regional trade shows for an extra chance to be considered for a scholarship.
The scholarship form will remain open until 5:00 p.m. EDT on October 28, 2016. Only booksellers at ABA member stores that did not have a Winter Institute scholarship winner in 2015 or 2016 are eligible to apply. Winners will be contacted directly by ABA and will be announced in November.
Booksellers with questions about Wi12 and the scholarship application process should contact their ABA member relationship manager: Catherine Cusick (914-406-7566, firstname.lastname@example.org) in the NAIBA, NEIBA, GLIBA, and MIBA regions; Nathan Halter (914-406-7514, email@example.com) in the NCIBA, SCIBA, MPIBA, PNBA, and SIBA regions.
Registration for Winter Institute 12 is scheduled to open in mid-September; watch for an announcement about the exact date in an upcoming edition of Bookselling This Week.
