Heather Duncan Named MPIBA Executive Director [4]

Heather DuncanThe Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association [6] Board of Directors announced on Tuesday, January 9, that Heather Duncan has been named executive director, effective January 22.

Duncan, who has a bachelor’s degree in international business from the University of Colorado at Boulder, previously worked at Fulcrum Publishing and at Tattered Cover Book Store [7], where she worked in the ordering department, as an outside corporate sales representative, and finally as director of marketing and events.

In 2008, Duncan began the first of two three-year terms on the board of the Reach Out and Read Colorado literacy program; she is also a founding member of the newly formed Local First Colorado.

In 2014, Duncan joined the MPIBA Board of Directors, where she served as vice president and president, and was previously a member of the MPIBA Advisory Council.

“Her deep experience in both event planning and management and bookselling will provide her and the association with the tools we need to move forward into 2018 and beyond,” the MPIBA Board said in a statement. “We are excited and pleased that Heather is taking on this role in the region she loves and knows so well.”
