Here's what's happening in the world of indie bookstores this week:

Bookish [4] in Fort Smith, Arkansas, will host its grand opening [5] on August 11.

Itinerant Literate
Itinerant Literate celebrated the grand opening of its physical store over the weekend.

Itinerant Literate [6], which opened as a bookmobile in 2015, held a grand opening celebration for its new physical store on July 21. Among the festivities were literary-themed trivia and a scavenger hunt.

Solid State Books [7] in Washington, D.C., celebrated the grand opening of its new space [8] on July 14 with story time, a balloon artist, and galley giveaways.

EyeSeeMe African American Children’s Bookstore [9] was featured in an interview with St. Louis Public Radio [10].

Hoodline [11] included Wild Rumpus [12] on a list of the five top spots in the Linden Hills [13] neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Six authors from the Puget Sound chapter of Sisters in Crime [14] presented Liberty Bay Books [15] in Poulsbo, Washington, with a $500 check to help the store promote women mystery/crime authors. The visiting authors were Alice K. Boatwright, Candace Robb, Martha Crites, Waverly Fitzgerald, Erica Miner, and Marty Wingate.
