Publishers Weekly and the Frankfurt Book Fair [5] have announced 45 PW Star Watch Honorees [6] on the fourth annual list, which this year includes six indie booksellers from ABA member stores.

PW’s Star Watch program honors book industry professionals from the U.S. and, for the first time this year, Canada who were selected from a pool of 300 nominations. Those nominated by their colleagues in the publishing and bookselling worlds include publicists, editors, designers, startup founders, and booksellers.

The ABA member booksellers among this year’s honorees are:

• Jeff Deutsch, director, Seminary Co-Op Bookstores [7]
• Elizabeth Jordan, CEO, BookPeople [8]
• Bea Koch and Leah Koch, co-owners, The Ripped Bodice [9]
• Veronica Santiago Liu, founder/lead organizer, Word Up Community Bookshop/Librería Comunitaria [10]
• Angela Maria Spring, owner, Duende District Bookstore [11]

Next, PW will announce the five “Top Honorees” in its Monday, September 3, issue, and one of those will be named the “Superstar” winner at a celebratory event on Wednesday, September 12, in New York City. The winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Frankfurt Book Fair in October.
