Visit ABA at the New Atlantic, Mountains & Plains Trade Shows [5]

Next week, the American Booksellers Association is heading to the New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association [7] (NAIBA) and the Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association [8] trade shows (MPIBA).

At all of this fall’s trade shows, ABA will present the education session “Maximizing Pre-Order Campaigns,” during which booksellers will discover ways to successfully promote and sell pre-orders to become an integral partner to publishers and authors, including new methods developed and tested by ABA’s Pre-Orders Task Force of indie stores. The session is open to both ABA members and nonmembers, and the PowerPoint presentation from the session will be posted on BookWeb at the culmination of the trade shows for all members to access.

Booksellers attending the NAIBA and MPIBA trade shows can also register to meet one-on-one with members of the IndieCommerce staff to discuss or learn about ABA’s e-commerce platforms for indie bookstores, IndieCommerce and IndieLite. Stores that sign an IndieCommerce or IndieLite contract at either show will be entered to win their first year free (see BTW’s recent story on last year’s winner [9], The Book Catapult).

Finally, ABA members have a chance to win a scholarship for Winter Institute 2019 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, by leaving a business card at the ABA booth at the fall trade shows. One winner will be randomly selected at the end of the trade show season.

The NAIBA trade show takes place Saturday, October 6 – Monday, October 8, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore Inner Harbor, located at 300 Light Street, Baltimore, Maryland. Booksellers can visit the ABA booth to meet ABA Senior Program Officer Joy Dallanegra-Sanger, IndieCommerce Senior Manager Geetha Nathan, and Member Relationship Manager Liz Roberts.
