Literature for Justice [5], a program of the National Book Foundation (NBF) supported by the Art for Justice Fund, is a book-based campaign that highlights annual reading lists on the topic of mass incarceration.

For the program’s third and final year, the 2020-2021 Literature for Justice Committee selected seven titles. These selections aim to further investigate the carceral system, centralizing the voices of those directly affected by incarceration and expanding outwards to offer context and inform a broader understanding of the system’s history with conquest, colonization, and globalization.
