Here’s what’s happening in the world of indie bookstores this week:
Still North Books is set to open [6] in the former Dartmouth Bookstore space in Hanover, New Hampshire.
The Golden Notebook [7] in Woodstock, New York, is renovating [8] the store throughout the month of February [9].
Scuppernong Books [10] in Greensboro, North Carolina, offered readers refuge [11] on Super Bowl Sunday.
Browser Books [12] in San Francisco, California, launched a new literary journal [13].
WGRZ News reported that MahoganyBooks [14] in Washington, D.C., “brings black literature to an African-American community with no bookstore.”
Malvern Books [15] was featured in an article titled “A space for literature lovers finds its niche in the digital age [16].”
C-Span will feature Vroman’s Bookstore [17] on Book TV [18]. Vroman’s will also be converting a section of its store into a wine bar [19].
The Frederick News-Post reported that Curious Iguana [20] in Silver Spring, Maryland, is setting readers up on blind dates with a book [21] for Valentine’s Day.
WCVB reported on “the reinvention of independent bookstores [22]” in the Boston area, including Trident Booksellers & Café [23], The Frugal Bookstore [24], and The Silver Unicorn [25].
A number of ABA member stores were featured on NYup.com’s guide to Buffalo bookstores [26].
The Tri-County Times reported that “Independent bookstores are ‘thriving [27].’”
