Winter Institute to Offer Education Session on Hand-selling in a Hybrid World [3]
- By Emily Behnke [4]
On Thursday, February 18, Winter Institute attendees are invited to join a session called “Customer Experience and Hand-selling/Upselling in a Hybrid World [5].” Booksellers will hear from booksellers and industry experts about the success they’ve seen in switching to a remote customer experience as well as the challenges.
This session will be moderated by Lane Jacobson of Paulina Springs Books [6] in Sisters, Oregon. Panelists will include Sara Richmond, director of communication and client experience at Edelweiss; Phil Davies of ABA; Rosa Hernandez of Third Place Books [7] in Lake Forest Park, Washington; Michael Barnard of Rakestraw Books [8] in Danville, California; Cristina Rodriguez of Deep Vellum Books [9] in Dallas, Texas; and Sarah Bagby of Watermark Books & Cafe [10] in Wichita, Kansas.
Booksellers can expect a discussion of Edelweiss and IndieCommerce tools to take advantage of when digitally hand-selling; fun and vibrant ways to engage customers, including TikTok, box subscriptions, bookseller hotlines, horoscope matches, and more; managing high-volume web sales and curbside pickup; and fostering business-to-business partnerships during a pandemic.
Booksellers are invited to submit questions for select Wi16 sessions, including this session on hand-selling, ahead of time [11]. Please submit your questions by Friday, January 29.
The 2021 Winter Institute [12] will be held virtually from Thursday, February 18, through Saturday, February 20, and registration is open now. The full Wi16 schedule can be found here [13]. Questions about the event can be sent to [email protected] [14].
