Bookstores Celebrate National Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month [2]

In celebration of National Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month, which takes place from September 15 to October 15, independent bookstores are sharing book recommendations, showcasing displays, and hosting virtual events.
Here are how some indies are celebrating the month:
- Schuler Books [4] in Grand Rapids, Michigan, shared a quote from Cesar Chavez, with their in-store display [5] inviting readers to learn about the “long and prosperous history of the Hispanic community.”
- Epilogue Books Chocolate Brews [6] in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, posted to Instagram [7]: “As a Latinx-owned bookstore, September and October has a special place in our heart as we celebrate what brings us together and sets us apart in our communities.”
- Odyssey Bookshop [8] in South Hadley, Massachusetts, highlighted in their newsletter a Young Reader recommendation with Barefoot Dreams of Petra Luna by Alda P. Dobbs, a Summer/Fall 2021 Indies Introduce selection.
- Vintage Books [9] in Vancouver, Washington, showcased on Middle Grade Monday [10] the newest Latinx culture titles for young readers.
- Writer’s Block Bookstore [11] in Winter Park, Florida, is offering a discount off any Spanish language title written by Hispanic authors [12] throughout the month-long celebration.
- Changing Hands Bookstore [13] in Phoenix, Arizona, is featuring author Yuyi Morales for a virtual family event as she presents her new picture book, Bright Star.
- Buxton Books [14] in Charleston, South Carolina, photographed some of the stunning illustrations [15] in Love in the Time of Cholera (illustrated edition) by Gabriel García Márquez.
- Fairytales Bookstore [16] in Nashville, Tennessee, highlighted children's books [17] for National Hispanic/Latinx Heritage month.
