Jane Pauley to Host Celebration of Bookselling [4]

Jane Pauley, whose forthcoming book, Skywriting: A Life Out of the Blue, will be published by Random House, will be the host of ABA's Celebration of Bookselling at this year's BookExpo America (BEA). Pauley, who interviewed thousands of newsmakers as a co-anchor of NBC's Today Show, for which she was named "1986 Broadcaster of the Year" by the International Radio and Television Society and "Best in the Business" by the Washington Journalism Review in 1990, will host the event to be held on Friday, June 4, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of Chicago's McCormick Place Convention Center.

Among her broadcasting credits, the multiple Emmy Award-winning Pauley has anchored NBC's national newscasts and was the principal correspondent for Real Life With Jane Pauley; has co-hosted Dateline NBC; and recently anchored Time & Again, the retrospective news program on MSNBC. She will be the host of a new nationally syndicated talk show, The Jane Pauley Show, which will premiere on NBC-TV on August 30.

By tradition, the Celebration of Bookselling -- BEA's most suspenseful party -- ends with the announcement of the 2004 Book Sense Book of the Year Awards. Finalists from five categories -- Adult Fiction, Adult Nonfiction, Children's Literature, Children's Illustrated, and Paperback -- will attend the gala event, which is free and open to all BEA attendees. The Celebration, this year again sponsored by Atlantic Monthly Magazine, features food, drink, and plenty of opportunities for conversation -- both shoptalk and friendly chatter. Gifts for the Book Sense Book of the Year finalists and winners are being provided by Levenger.

Publishers Weekly will honor Milwaukee's Harry W. Schwartz Bookshops -- the 2004 PW Bookseller of the Year -- at this year's Celebration.
