[4]On Thursday, July 29, on NBC's Today Show author Nicholas Sparks chose Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings [4] by Christopher Moore (Perennial) as the next title to be read by the Today Book Club.

Fluke was a 2003 July/August Book Sense Pick. In his nomination of the title, Dan Bogart of Bear River Books in Evanston, Wyoming, said, "Moore concocts a bizarre mix of characters, including a crazed woman, a Rastafarian, whales, research scientists, and primordial soup. A laugh-out-loud novel with a serious message."
