Registration for the American Booksellers Association’s 2011 Winter Institute [5], which opened in September, is now almost booked to capacity. Sign-up for the sixth annual education event – sponsored by the Ingram Content Group – is open exclusively to ABA bookstore and provisional members and capped at 500 participants. The Sixth Annual Winter Institute, on January 19, 20, and 21, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, in Arlington, Virginia, will offer booksellers more than 30 education sessions, extensive networking opportunities, and, with Capitol Hill just a few Metro stops away, a Legislative Day [5] devoted to policy, advocacy, and small business issues.

The schedule also features five evening receptions: an opening reception on January 18 at Washington’s renowned Politics & Prose; a Legislative Day reception, co-sponsored by the Center for the Book, at the Madison Building of the Library of Congress, on January 19; an Emerging Leaders reception, sponsored by Workman, also on the 19th; the ever-popular author reception on January 20; and a closing reception, featuring authors from small and independent presses, on the 21st. Hotel reservations at the Crystal Gateway Marriott are still available at the Wi6 room rate of $119 per night, for Tuesday, January 18, through Saturday, January 22.
