W.G. Ellerkamp, Inc., which offers a wide range of environmentally friendly products, including reusable totes, is trying out a new concept this holiday season. In a promotion dubbed 20|10, the company is giving ABA members a choice of discounts on stock IndieBound products for orders placed between November 23 and December 10.

Company president Jack Ellerkamp explained it this way in a recent e-mail to booksellers: “If you are having a tough year and you can use an additional discount, you may take 20 percent off our pricing for stock IndieBound products. If you are having a good year and don’t necessarily need the additional discount, you may opt for a 10 percent discount…. There is no need to justify or explain which discount level you choose, just simply let us know which level you’d like when placing your order. Something along the lines of “I’ll take 20 percent, please,” or “Thanks, 10 percent is fine.”

Ellerkamp noted that his company is having a good year and that is why he is able offer the deeper discount to those who would benefit from the additional savings. “Booksellers, and our partnership with ABA, are a growing part of our overall business,” he said. “And we are thankful to all of you. We have to share, support one another, and play well together – the world is a better place when we all do this.”

Stores will receive a 20 percent discount on shipping as well, with the exception of shipments to Alaska, where regular USPS rates will apply.

Ellerkamp’s giftwrap remains at the 15 percent discount level with regular ground shipping rates.

Because the company’s print shop is so booked, Ellerkamp said that it would probably not be able to deliver custom printed (personalized) IndieBound shopping bags before Christmas.
