Google Staff Members to Take Part in Winter Institute [5]

Representatives of Google will take part in next month’s Winter Institute [7] at two sessions on Google Analytics and at the Ask ABA Table at the Consultation Station [8], all on Thursday, January 19.

At the 3:20 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. session Best Practices for Reading Google Analytics 101 [9], Google Analytics Program Manager Jesse Nichols and Stephanie Anderson of Brooklyn, New York’s  WORD [10]will share how booksellers can get quick insights from Google Analytics and how those insights can be used to drive more business. Armed with website analytics, booksellers can work on improving website return on investment, changing browsers to buyers, and creating more visible opportunities for sales. This session, in the Astor Crowne Plaza’s St. Charles B Room, assumes booksellers have a basic knowledge of ABA IndieCommerce.

In the more advanced Best Practices for Reading Google Analytics 201 [11], from 3:55 p.m. to 4:25 p.m., also in St. Charles B, Nichols and Anderson will give booksellers a new perspective on their Google Analytics reports and help them go an extra level deeper to find insights about their website visitors that they might not have known otherwise, and to extract “action items” from the collected data. If you feel like you often look at reports in Google Analytics but don’t know what to do next, then this session is for you.

During Thursday’s Consultation Station, Google customer service representatives Junko Gardenour and Tina Patel will be available to meet with booksellers at the Ask ABA Table. They’ll be there to offer Google eBooks demonstrations on a selection of reading devices and to answer booksellers’ questions about the product and account set-up. An appointment sign-up sheet will be available at the Ask ABA at 10:30 a.m. so Wi7 attendees can sign up for an appointment ahead of time, or booksellers can take their chances and swing by at any time.

The Consultation Station will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Astor and Grand Galleries of the Astor Crowne Plaza.
