March 28, 2013
Dear ABA Member,
Tomorrow, March 29, in an e-mail from ABA CEO Oren Teicher, you will receive a link to an electronic ballot to elect ABA’s president, vice president, and three directors to serve on the Board.
Please note that only one person per ABA Member ID number may vote. The authorized voter will need a BookWeb.org log-in to access the ballot and the store’s ABA Member ID number in order to vote. If you don’t know your ID number, click here [1].
This year’s ballot features the following candidates nominated by the Board for three-year terms as Directors (terms ending 2016):
- Sarah Bagby of Watermark Books and Café [2], Wichita, Kansas
- Annie Philbrick of Bank Square Books [3], Mystic, Connecticut
- Robert Sindelar of Third Place Books [4], Lake Forest Park, Washington
In accordance with a March 2011 bylaws amendment, ABA’s officers are elected for two-year terms. This year’s ballot puts forth the following candidates:
- For President: Steve Bercu of BookPeople [5] in Austin, Texas
- For Vice President/Secretary: Betsy Burton of The King’s English Bookshop [6] in Salt Lake City, Utah
The ballot also includes space for write-in candidates. Biographical information for each of the candidates is available here [7].
All voting is being conducted electronically, and ballots received after April 30, 2013, will NOT be counted.
The election results will be announced at the beginning of May, and the new Board members will be welcomed at the ABA Annual Membership Meeting to be held on Thursday, May 30, from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., in conjunction with BookExpo America [8], at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. The Membership Meeting will be preceded by ABA’s Town Hall meeting from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. We hope to see you there.
Thank you. And, if you have any questions about the election process, please contact me at [email protected] [9].
