Posman to Open Fourth Store

Posman Books [4], which has locations in Grand Central Terminal, Chelsea Market, and Rockefeller Center, plans to open a fourth location in a retail complex in Manhattan’s soon-to-be-renovated Brookfield Place. The opening is part of a plan to add five stores in five years, Posman vice president Robert Fader told the Wall Street Journal [5].

Formerly known as the World Financial Center, Brookfield Place is a high-traffic area, and the 2,200-square-foot bookstore will likely draw locals, tourists, and the office population, said Fader.

Half Price Books B(eco)mes Bagless

Half Price Books [6], which has 120 stores in 16 states, has launched an eco-centric effort, encouraging customers to “b(eco)me bagless [7].” When a customer declines a plastic bag, the store will donate five cents to a local environmental nonprofit organization.

“Being kind to the environment is an important part of our mission at Half Price Books,” President Sharon Anderson Wright announced on the store’s website [8]. “We have always believed that ‘Books should fill our lives, not our land.’”
