Obituary: Paul Edward “PK” Kozlowski [3]

Paul Edward Kozlowski, better known as PK, a well-liked and respected figure in the book business, died on Wednesday, June 25, at Hoboken University Medical Center at the age of 60.

Kozlowski was born in Queens and started in the book industry as a bookseller in 1979. His bookselling career included positions as retail manager, merchandise director, and regional manager for Doubleday Bookshops and Barnes & Noble.

In 1993, he began his publishing career as national accounts manager for Penguin USA. From 1996 to 2009, he held various positions at Random House, including director of national accounts and vice president, director of field sales in the sales division, and director of marketing at Alfred A. Knopf and Pantheon.

Until May, Kozlowski was associate publisher of Other Press.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Tardiff-Kozlowski; his brother, Martin Kozlowski, and his wife, Barbara Winard; and Jana Kozlowski.

Visitation hours will be held at the Failla Memorial Home [4] in Hoboken, New Jersey, on Sunday, June 29, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A blessing will be offered in the chapel at 5:30 p.m. n lieu of flowers, the Tardiff and Kozlowski families request that donations (or contributions) be made to WBGO Jazz 88.3 FM [5] in the memory of Paul E.
